If your smile is not what you would want it to be, you will feel uneasy about smiling and you won't seem as happy or pleasant as you truly are.
Taking care of your teeth and gums is very important for maintaining the best qualities of your smile as well as your confidence in it. Let us show you how easy it is to improve what you have.
At the Connecticut Smile Center, we are concerned with the whole person. So no matter what you visit us for, we will examine you to assure you that your teeth, gums and mouth are healthy and problem free. If we see any problems, we will consult with you to get you the best possible care for whatever may be troubling you now, or may trouble you in the future.
Booking an appointment with Dr. Horn for a comprehensive periodontal evaluation is essential for your oral health, and for your medical health as well. In fact, untreated gum conditions can lead to heart attack, stroke, and premature births in expectant mothers. If you suffer from diabetes, your condition may be difficult to control if you have periodontal problems. Alzheimers Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and obesity all have been shown to have a strong correlation with periodontal disease. At the Connecticut Smile Center, we take preventative dental care very seriously.
Dr. Horn will examine your teeth and gums for signs of diabetes, oral cancer and osteoporosis in order to catch them in their earliest stages. Additionally, the Doctor will examine you for gum disease which, if left untreated, may cause serious infections in other parts of your body. Because the culprit behind gum disease is bacteria, you can avoid serious health problems down the line. If you’re pregnant, you not only risk your own health, but that of your unborn child as well.
With regular checkups, you help yourself in the long run as, if dental caries are caught early enough, you may avoid more serious procedures like root canals or extractions with a simple filling. Additionally, Dr. Horn will he will carefully evaluate your bite and the movement of your jaw as well. Dr. Horn will take X-Rays and will set up appointments for regular cleanings so that your smile is at its best.
Unattractive teeth are one of the top reasons for a poor smile but our tooth whitening procedures can give you the confidence you need to smile with ease.
By safely enhancing the color of your teeth, you can remove years of discoloration and stains. Our team of professionals has been helping Connecticut smile for years and now it is your turn to discover just how much teeth whitening can help your self-confidence!
Our at-home bleaching service is inexpensive and requires almost no time in our office. You can simply make an appointment and once you come in, we will fit you for our custom made bleach trays. Your trays will be ready in just a few days, and along with our second-to-none bleaching agent, you’ll be ready to completely change your smile for the better. You will need to wear the trays for a few hours per a day and within a week or two you will notice a significant difference. This method is preferred by many since the trays fit right over all existing dental work and the bleaching agent used doesn’t damage fillings, caps or even irritate your gums. If you have stains due to coffee, smoking or other reasons, Dr. Horne's custom at-home whitening can be just what you are looking for.
Don't think you can afford it? Our care is affordable and we accept many different dental insurance plans. We also offer a new program that allows you to pay over time. Click here for more information about this new program.
If your teeth have been damaged or lost or suffer from a large amount of decay, we offer treatment options that will restore one tooth or more teeth based on your needs. We use crowns and bridges fashioned to look completely natural to replace what is missing or decayed beyond repair. In the case of a crown, we will take a mold of your tooth and fashion a crown that will look like your tooth did when undamaged and then prepare your tooth to take the crown. If you need a bridge, we will fashion one that will fit your mouth and allow you to use it as if it were your natural tooth, and install it using the teeth around it for anchors.
If your tooth develops deep decay, Dr. Horn can save a tooth by performing root canal or other endodontic treatments on your tooth, working to preserve the tooth you have, which results in the best health and cosmetic results.
Endodontic treatment most likely will cost you more than an extraction. But when a tooth is extracted, it must be replaced to prevent other teeth from shifting and to prevent future periodontal disease (gum disease), if not for cosmetic reasons alone. The cost of the denture or bridge, plus the extraction, often is more than an endodontic procedure that would save the tooth. Most dental insurance plans cover endodontic treatment.
When a tooth is completely damaged and cannot be salvaged, Dr. Horn does perform extractions. After the extraction is done, Dr. Horn will work with you to come up with a solution for the space where the tooth was extracted, be it an implant or a bridge. Dr. Horn can also extract baby teeth in children where they will not easily come out of their own accord.
Dr. Horn can custom-fit partial or full dentures, as well as care for dentures after they have been perscribed for you, making sure they fit well, do not irritate and will not cause problems with your gums or with your ability to eaty naturally and easily.
Periodontitis involves progressive loss of the alveolar bone around the teeth, and if left untreated, can lead to the loosening and subsequent loss of teeth.
If you suffer from periodontal disease or inflammation of the gums, Dr. Horn is here to help you. Dr. Horn offers non-surgical periodontal treatment, including scaling and root planing (a careful cleaning of the root surfaces to remove plaque and calculus [tartar] from deep periodontal pockets and to smooth the tooth root to remove bacterial toxins), followed by adjunctive therapy such as local delivery antimicrobials and host modulation. Usually after these treatments, no further active treatment is necessary. Dr. Horn's periodontal treatments will enhance your smile and give you back that confident smile you had before your gums were inflamed.
